On September 13, 2008, Donnamarie was working at the shelter and we decided to have lunch there.
Earlier that week, one of the more adventurous rabbits named Dean had decided to go exploring by jumping out of his cage
and ended up in a cage occupied by a bonded pair of rabbits.
The bonded pairs assumed that this was an attack, and they retaliated.
Dean ended up in surgery, and then in isolation because of his injuries.
This was especially traumatic because Dean was such an outgoing rabbit who loved being around people,
but the isolation limited his exposure to others.
So we decided to bring Dean home.
Dean is indeed an explorer. He took immediately to running up and down the stairs in the house,
and he explored every detail of the house that he could get access to. At that point, he did not have access to very much.
One week later, we took Dean back to the shelter to try and find a friend for him, and that was when we met Anna.
She was very shy, but she was very used to being picked up and did not mind being carried around.
Dean and Anna seemed to get along, so we decided to take Anna home as a foster rabbit. Two weeks later, we adopted Anna.
Here is Dean checking out the sliding glass door.
